20th Annual Golf Fundraiser for Boys and Girls Club of Bluffton on track to hit new financial record

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- (Bluffton, SC – August 28, 2024)  - The Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton, part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry, is hosting the 20th Annual Par Fore Kids golf outing at May River Golf Course in Palmetto Bluff on September 16. The event is already sold out for golf but has a limited number of cocktail reception tickets available and a handful of tee box sponsorships remain.  The fundraiser now in its 20th year is on track to surpass last years’ revenue for the Club by 20%.

The committee is chaired by Sal Campo who is thrilled to see the progress. “We introduced sponsorships in a different way in 2024,” said Campo.  “Amanda Lamb Architects generously committed to sponsoring the cocktail party sponsorship and we have support from Pay Proudly, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management / Bank of America, BMW Hilton Head, and the Hilton Head Firefighters Association in ways that we have never had sponsorship before. It’s really boosted what we will be able to generate for the Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton.  Plus, we sold out in late July of all the golf foursomes!”

The Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton currently serves over 300 youth ages 6-18 at their facility on 100 H.E. McCracken Circle. Led in Resource Development by Molly Hornbeak, the Boys & Girls Club of Bluffton has been operating for 26 years with grit and determination. “We have to raise over $1.1 Million dollars a year to keep saving these children’s lives,” said Hornbeak. “They are all special. They are all deserving of this opportunity to become more productive, caring, and responsible citizens.”

Not a babysitting service, the Club is intensely focused on delivering the mission and serves the youth in academic programming focused on career and academic preparedness, healthy lifestyles, and good character and citizenship daily after school.

Golf foursomes for the charity golf outing started at $1,500 per round and were limited to 120 players (instead of 144 players the previous year) to ensure smoother and faster play for the golfers.  To compensate for the difference, the committee gambled (and won) by raising the price of a foursome from $1,350 to $1,500 and sell previously included hole sponsorships for $500.

Palmetto Bluff’s May River Golf Course was named in the Top 100 Golf Courses in the US by Golf Digest. It also received notoriety when it earned Best New Golf Course in 2005 after it opened. It’s known for challenging, gentle slopes and beautifulvistas throughout the May River Forest, as well as several holes on the May River itself. Nicklaus was so particular in thiscourse that the sand in the traps was brought in from Ohio – as its angular shape was thought to hold up better and not wash away in the climate. This is a highly sought-after golf destination.

The cocktail reception will be held from 4:30-6:30 pm and $100 tickets include unlimited beer and wine and heavy hors oeuvres catered by May River Golf Club.  All are welcome to attend and encouraged to buy tickets to the cocktail reception!

A silent, online auction will feature numerous rounds of golf from sought-after courses in the Lowcountry, artwork, restaurant, spa & more including a round of golf at May River Golf Course with PGA Tour Golf Professional, Luke List. The silent auctionwill be open to the public. Visit the website, www.parforekids.org to register.

Registration for the cocktail reception on September 16th event is still open. To purchase a ticket or one of the remaining hole sponsorships, please visit the website at www.parforekids.org.
